Shameful Act of Anger

Amidst all the celebrations for Slumdog Millionaire's dream Oscar-run, national TV missed another important incident that happened yesterday. Actually, that's the problem with media, at least here in India, that they 'rank' the stories among themselves and not based on their content and importance. I mean, each story should get its due share irrespective of how many bigger incidents overlapped with it. I am writing this post concerned with what happened in Gaziabad yesterday. Four robbers were caught by mob and beaten to death. Out of total 6 robbers, 2 managed to flee but rest 4 weren't that lucky. All fair till this point. Actually, I am happy that neighbours took care of their responsibility. But what worries me what happened after that. Instead of calling the police and let them arrest the robbers, people stepped up and decided to do the justice then and there. I know the robbers were carrying weapons and were not afraid to use them. I also agree that people might be frustrated at police and system not doing enough but I am still not convinced to let someone take law in their hands. I mean, it can't be the action of a civilised society to kill someone this way (or, kill in any way for that matter). I wonder how can someone act like a butcher and take other human being's life, no matter what the later had done. It's a shame that when in mob, people tend to leave their individuality behind, and act how the mob is acting. Mob doesn't have a mind of its own, neither does it have any emotions or feelings. One can't do a crime in the name of stopping other crime. One must ask these irresponsible people, what if the police takes their organs just because they crossed red light or didn't pay their taxes on time !!
